New Year's Eve

Mom tells me that today is New Year's Eve, the last day of 2010.  That really means nothing to me - after all, I'm a cat.  But Mom cares about this - it seems to mean something to her.

There are college football bowl games on TV today.  Here's the list [she insists that I post it]:

Meineke Car Care Bowl
South Florida vs. Clemson

Sun Bowl
Notre Dame vs. Miami [FL]

Liberty Bowl
Georgia vs. UCF

Chick-Fil-A Bowl
South Carolina vs. Florida State

There's also bad weather in Central Mississippi.  Being that I am a cat, I can sense these things.  Mom says that there are tornado watches in areas around us, but so far Jackson is not under one.

I don't like tornadoes.  I was in one with my original human guardians and it wasn't any fun.  I don't ever want to experience that again.

Well, this is all I have to share with you right now....

New Orleans Saints

I forgot to tell you that Mom was very happy this morning.  She didn't get to see the Saints game vs. the Atlanta Falcons last night so she was anxious to check out the newspaper this morning.  Mom was quiet pleased to find that the Saints beat those Falcons 17-14 and have clinched a playoff spot.

Got An Update....

When Mom got home last night she had a stack of mail, so she had been to the post office.  She said she was met at the kitchen door by Rusty - so he was in the house.  She was glad she put the garage door down after she pulled her car into the garage and parked it.  She said that otherwise he would've probably dashed out the door and our housemate would've had to get in her car and go chase him down and bring him back.  It was already cold by that time so she wouldn't have appreciated having to do that.

Mom ate the last of the pizza she had gotten Sunday night when she came home last night.  Before she finally went to bed, she wrote down the numbers of her prescriptions so she could order refills this morning.  She called the pharmacy this morning and talked to a tech and placed the refill order.  She said that the tech told her that they didn't have a new prescription on file for one of her meds, so she authorized them to call her doctor and get a new one.  Mom plans to pick them up on Thursday so she can get them in 2010 instead of having to pay her prescription deductible immediately in 2011.

When she got up this morning it was 22 degrees under clear skies according to her computer.  That was cold!  It was 21 on Monday morning.  Eric says that a warm up is coming - today's high was 53; he forecasts tonight's low at 34 - that's an improvement!

Mom got to work and learned that her co-worker wouldn't be coming in today as scheduled.  He had to babysit his girlfriend's son.  He was scheduled off yesterday she said.

Well I need to wrap this up for now.  I'll update again at another time.

About Christmas....

Mom was of the unhappy belief that she was going to have to work all of Christmas weekend, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Then she learned Monday of last week that her work schedule had been changed so that she would be off the entire Christmas weekend.  She was able to make arrangements to travel to her native Louisiana to visit some family members and so she left on Thursday [12/23] but she didn't take me with her.  She says that there are doggies where she goes and that it wouldn't be a good thing to have us mix.

Hey - I don't understand that because I used to live with a doggie named Romeo and he and I got along just fine.  Oh well....it was Mom's decision.  I stayed home and her nice housemate tended to me until she left to travel also to Louisiana to see her daughter and grandsons [the ones who come to visit periodically].  I wound up being "home alone" Christmas Eve night - Rusty was even gone - he had been dropped off at a place in town that boards animals for their human guardians while they're out of town.  I don't know why Mom didn't drop me off there - surely they take cats?!

Well, Mom said that she went to visit with some family members on Thursday and got to see where her cousin who got married a few months ago lives.  They have a place that's out in the country yet only 10-15 minutes from town.  They also have a barn with horses.  No cats, though.

She also received some gifts - LSU stuff of course - from these family members at a family get together Thursday night.  They had food - chicken from a place called Popeye's.

Friday [Christmas Eve] she went over to Uncle Bill and Aunt Pat's.  She helped them decorate their Christmas tree.  Their doggie Rascal was also being boarded, but Peanut was at home.  Hey - not fair!  Mom said that Uncle Bill said that he would be a "problem child" if they had him at the house during the family Christmas party.  She also went to run some errands with Uncle Bill.

She said that there were lots of people there Christmas Eve night - 30 or more - that's a lot!  They had a big party and exchanged gifts and ate supper together.  She said it went late - till about 10:00 PM.

Mom came home Christmas Day and hung out with me - she thought about going out late in the day to get something for supper but opted not to do that.  Instead, she stayed home and ate something she had at home.  Then she watched some TV and went on to bed.

Sunday morning Mom was planning to go to church but ended up not going because of the sneaux flurries.  She wasn't sure about driving in the weather.  Well, she needed a few things but didn't even want to go out and pick them up.  She made do at home, then later on was watching the NFL games on TV when our housemate came in from out of town.

She unloaded her car and later went back out to pick up Rusty and bring him home.  After doing that, she and Mom decided they wanted pizza and so they went out to Papa John's and got carryout pizza.  They also stopped at the grocery and got a few things they needed.  They returned home and ate their pizza - and I didn't get any.

Mom is careful what she feeds me.  She doesn't give me "people food" much - says she doesn't want me to get addicted to it or get sick from eating something that might not be good for me.

Mom said it was downright cold this morning - 21 degrees according to what she said her computer registered.  She went on to work this morning as she was scheduled and her supervisor left around lunchtime so she would have to finish out the day alone.

She got some good news....her boss sent her a text last night and they went back and forth and it wound up that the work schedule was being changed again and she will have weekends off for several months to come.  She's happy about that!

I guess this is all I have to share with you for now....

Letter from Jesus about Christmas --

NOTE: Mom received this via e-mail from a friend and insisted that I share it with you....

Letter from Jesus about Christmas

It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season.

How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth, just GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

Now, having said that let Me go on. If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santa and snowmen and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn If all My followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town.

Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made all trees. You can remember Me anytime you see any tree. Decorate a grape vine if you wish: I actually spoke of that one in a teaching, explaining who I am in relation to you and what each of our tasks were. If you have forgotten that one, look up John 15: 1 - 8.

If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my wish list. Choose something from it:

1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and lonely this time of year. I know, they tell Me all the time.

2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don't have to know them personally. They just need to know that someone cares about them. Proverbs 6: 20-23

3. Instead of writing the President complaining about the wording on the cards his staff sent out this year, why don't you write and tell him that you'll be praying for him and his family this year. Then follow up... It will be nice hearing from you again. 1Timothy 2:1-6

4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can't afford and they don't need, spend time with them. Tell them the story of My birth, and why I came to live with you down here. Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love them. Luke 2: 1-20

5 Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her. Matt 5: 44
6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take their own life this season because they feel so alone and hopeless?  Since you don't know
who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile; it could make the difference. John 1: 4-5

7. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town calls the holiday, be patient with the people who work there. Give them a warm smile and a kind word. Even if they aren't allowed to wish you a "Merry Christmas" that doesn't keep you from wishing them one. Then stop shopping there on Sunday. If the store didn't make so much money on that day they'd close and let their employees spend the day at home with their families. Luke 2: 10-11

8. If you really want to make a difference, support a missionary-- especially one who takes My love and Good News to those who have never heard My name. Romans 1:18-20

9. Here's a good one. There are individuals and whole families in your town who not only will have no "Christmas" tree, but neither will they have any presents to give or receive. If you don't know them, buy some food and a few gifts and give them to the Salvation Army or some other charity which believes in Me and they will make the delivery for you. Deuteronomy 14: 28-29

10. Finally, if you want to make a statement about your belief in and loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian. Don't do things in secret that you wouldn't do in My presence. Let people know by your actions that you are one of mine. Genesis 19: 44

Don't forget; I am God and can take care of Myself. Just love Me and do what I have told you to do. I'll take care of all the rest. Check out the list above and get to work; time is short. I'll help you, but the ball is now in your court. And do have a most blessed Christmas with all those whom you love and remember:

I LOVE YOU,

JESUS

Mom asked me to post this link to this performance by her home church.  She just can't get enough of watching and listening to this clip.

Lunar Eclipse

Mom and her housemate didn't get up and go outside in the wee hours of the morning to view this thing that everyone's been talking about.  Here's a link to some photos that Mom found and wanted me to post:

Total lunar eclipse expected

Mom asked me to post this - I don't know why; she and/or our housemate may be planning to get up and go out and try to view this thing....

Total lunar eclipse expected

 http://www.2theadvocate.com/news/112167834.html?index=1&c=y

A celestial show is expected early Tuesday morning over North America when the Earth’s long shadow engulfs the moon and immerses the bright globe into a lunar eclipse.

The moon will be totally in the Earth’s shadow from 1:41 a.m. until 2:53 a.m., said Christopher Kersey, director of BREC’s Highland Road Park Observatory.

While it’s enveloped in the Earth’s shadow, the moon is expected to be cast in a coppery red, burnt orange, or brown hue.

Last Night....

When Mom got home, she found that our housemate was home but her daughter was not here.  She asked and was told that her daughter was at a party.  She stayed out somewhat late because Mom and I were already in bed asleep when she came in.  She didn't wake us up.  I'm happy about that and Mom is too.

Today....

I'm waiting on Mom to come home from work.  I hope she's in a better humor than she was last night.  She seemed to be doing better this morning when she left.

Our housemate went out and picked up supper for the two of them but I didn't get any of Mom's.  I don't know what she had either - she didn't say.

Our housemate's daughter is supposed to be visiting this weekend - so Mom said - guess she'll find out about that when she gets home.

I'll add another entry later....

Today....

Mom had to leave for work early today because she had to stop by the grocery store and pick up something to take to her group's Christmas lunch plus she had some Christmas gifts and cards to deliver to co-workers.  She told me she bought bite-sized brownies topped with chocolate creme as her contribution to the lunch.  She also said that her co-workers liked the gifts and cards that she brought them.

Mom also uploaded the pictures of Peanut, Uncle Bill and Aunt Pat.  She's had requests to post pictures of Peanut on her FaceBook page, but hasn't had time to do that.  She plans to do it tomorrow.

It's quiet around the house, our housemate is not home but Mom knows where she is.  She ought to be in soon.

Don't have any more to share with you tonight!

Guests....

Mom had guests earlier today.  Her brother and sister-in-law - "Uncle Bill" and "Aunt Pat" came to visit from Louisiana.  They brought along their puppy, named Peanut, but I didn't get to see him.  He's 9 weeks old from what Mom said.  She took some pictures of him and them, but hasn't uploaded the pictures yet, so I haven't seen them.

Mom went and had a late lunch with Uncle Bill and Aunt Pat.  No Peanut and I didn't get to go.  Mom said that they left Peanut in their car with the window cracked.  Don't freak - it's certainly not hot outside - in the 60's Mom estimates - so it wasn't too hot for the little guy.

Mom got her new [to her] computer from Uncle Bill and they got it hooked up.  After they went to lunch and Uncle Bill and Aunt Pat left, Mom called the support people for assistance in getting her Internet connection brought up on this computer.  She discovered she needed a new mouse [she wouldn't let me eat or attack it] so she had to leave again.  Uncle Bill and Aunt Pat were at Big Lots - Mom called to let them know she had the Internet working and when she found out they were there, she asked Uncle Bill if he would look and see if they had computer mouses.  He found one like what she needed and said it was $4.00, so she left again and went over and met them.  Uncle Bill had put the mouse in his buggy as it was the only one they had like she needed; when she showed up, he took it out and gave it to her.

While at Big Lots, Mom also purchased a new Bluetooth for her cell phone.  She said that apparently the old one has bit the dust.  She returned home and changed out the mouse and then took out some garbage and put the old computer elsewhere in the house.  She's got the new Bluetooth on the charger.

Not much else is going on around here - Christmas is approaching fast.  Mom says there's a gift for me under the tree.

LSU Fan....

Here I am sleeping on Mom's LSU fleece throw.  She has it covering the comforter which serves as a bedspread.  Mom's bed is done in purple and gold - well right now her Tempur-pedic pillow is in a white pillowcase because I threw up in the wee hours of yesterday morning on the purple pillowcase.  Mom has the pillowcase in the dryer [she's doing laundry now] and she told me that when she gets it out of the dryer she will swap it back onto the pillow. The comforter is gold, the sheets and pillowcases are purple.  True LSU fans we are around here!

The Latest With Us....

Mom and I have been doing well, we've just been busy lately.  Here's a picture Mom took of me recently.  She has more pictures of me on her camera that she hasn't uploaded yet.  A friend of hers from work brought her a Christmas present - it's a photo frame.  She said that she will put a picture of me in it - she'll use one of the pictures of me she still has on her camera to go in it.

Last night I shed another claw and it disturbed Mom - she had to check and make sure I wasn't missing one altogether.  She has finally learned, though, that when I'm scratching, I know I've got a claw that needs to come off as another is ready to grow out in its place and I'm trying to "encourage" the old claw to go away so the new one can come on out.

Also, last night Mom and our housemate were having supper and they had let Rusty Boy in the house with them.  When they came out of the kitchen, our housemate found him curled up in her favorite chair.  She fussed at Rusty Boy and gave him some doggie food and sent him back outside on the patio.

She doesn't understand why the doggie has taken to doing that and neither does Mom.  She wanted to get a picture of him in the chair, but our housemate said she didn't want to encourage that behavior!

We're looking forward to Christmas.  Mom has gotten her Christmas presents wrapped - she did it earlier this week and she has moved them where I can't get to them.  She says she's afraid I might tear into to them.  Heck, I only want to check them out!

Well this is all I've got for the time being....
