Mom was of the unhappy belief that she was going to have to work all of Christmas weekend, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Then she learned Monday of last week that her work schedule had been changed so that she would be off the entire Christmas weekend. She was able to make arrangements to travel to her native Louisiana to visit some family members and so she left on Thursday [12/23] but she didn't take me with her. She says that there are doggies where she goes and that it wouldn't be a good thing to have us mix.
Hey - I don't understand that because I used to live with a doggie named Romeo and he and I got along just fine. Oh well....it was Mom's decision. I stayed home and her nice housemate tended to me until she left to travel also to Louisiana to see her daughter and grandsons [the ones who come to visit periodically]. I wound up being "home alone" Christmas Eve night - Rusty was even gone - he had been dropped off at a place in town that boards animals for their human guardians while they're out of town. I don't know why Mom didn't drop me off there - surely they take cats?!
Well, Mom said that she went to visit with some family members on Thursday and got to see where her cousin who got married a few months ago lives. They have a place that's out in the country yet only 10-15 minutes from town. They also have a barn with horses. No cats, though.
She also received some gifts - LSU stuff of course - from these family members at a family get together Thursday night. They had food - chicken from a place called Popeye's.
Friday [Christmas Eve] she went over to Uncle Bill and Aunt Pat's. She helped them decorate their Christmas tree. Their doggie Rascal was also being boarded, but Peanut was at home. Hey - not fair! Mom said that Uncle Bill said that he would be a "problem child" if they had him at the house during the family Christmas party. She also went to run some errands with Uncle Bill.
She said that there were lots of people there Christmas Eve night - 30 or more - that's a lot! They had a big party and exchanged gifts and ate supper together. She said it went late - till about 10:00 PM.
Mom came home Christmas Day and hung out with me - she thought about going out late in the day to get something for supper but opted not to do that. Instead, she stayed home and ate something she had at home. Then she watched some TV and went on to bed.
Sunday morning Mom was planning to go to church but ended up not going because of the sneaux flurries. She wasn't sure about driving in the weather. Well, she needed a few things but didn't even want to go out and pick them up. She made do at home, then later on was watching the NFL games on TV when our housemate came in from out of town.
She unloaded her car and later went back out to pick up Rusty and bring him home. After doing that, she and Mom decided they wanted pizza and so they went out to Papa John's and got carryout pizza. They also stopped at the grocery and got a few things they needed. They returned home and ate their pizza - and I didn't get any.
Mom is careful what she feeds me. She doesn't give me "people food" much - says she doesn't want me to get addicted to it or get sick from eating something that might not be good for me.
Mom said it was downright cold this morning - 21 degrees according to what she said her computer registered. She went on to work this morning as she was scheduled and her supervisor left around lunchtime so she would have to finish out the day alone.
She got some good news....her boss sent her a text last night and they went back and forth and it wound up that the work schedule was being changed again and she will have weekends off for several months to come. She's happy about that!
I guess this is all I have to share with you for now....
